Daniel T. Linfante of Queens was extradited to Greenwich on Tuesday, March 26, after being apprehended by the NYPD Fugitive Task Force, and charged with manslaughter for the death of another man on Sept. 29, 2018, said Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz.

Linfante was also charged with possession of narcotics after he was seen removing a balloon from his rear-end that was found to contain drugs, Slusarz said.

According to Capt. Robert Berry, On Sept. 29, 2018, Greenwich Police were summoned to a hotel on the report of a deceased person. When police arrived on the scene, they found a man in one of the rooms of the room who police determined had died from a drug overdose.

An additional investigation by the medical examiner confirmed that the man had died from an overdose of fentanyl and heroin, Berry said.

Investigators were able to obtain information leading them to Linfante who had allegedly sold the drug which led to the death, he added.d

An arrest warrant was obtained from the Stamford Superior Court charging Linfante with manslaughters.

"This investigation has been one part of the collaborative effort within the Greenwich community to address the local and national crisis of opioids," Berry said.

Berry added that the department is using a multi-pronged strategy to address the issue: providing life-saving efforts in the field; connecting users to addiction services; arrests of those manufacturing and distributing drugs; and education.

Linfante is being held on $250,000 bail.
